Types of Honey.
On the island of Gran Canaria, there is a wide range of plants which bees use to produce different types of honey. Therefore, stress should put on the following aspects before presenting the different types of honey:
Poly-floral honeys
They are the result of a combination of the many available flowers as there is not only one determined botanical species. This makes the honey of Gran Canaria special as it is different from those of the islands of Tenerife and La Palma for instance, which are produced by a particular botanical species and changes according to the area; this is why the honey is then called “monofloral”.

- Honeys from the coastline
They are produced below 600 meters of altitude, and are a combination of lemon and orange blossom, iceplant, plocama pendula, avocado, banana plant and other species. The crystallisation of these honeys could neither be called slow nor quick; it is just in between.
