The History of the wine in Gran Canaria.
Gran Canaria is a land of movement and prosperity, of ocean and volcanos, has been since immemorial time a meeting point of cultures and people. This fact of Gran Canaria has helped this passage to the New World. And these travelers, coming from Europe, tired of waiting in the Port the arrival of these unsafe and slow shipping of that time, they decided to bring with them the best stumps which would swamp the medium-heights. Over the 15th Century, our wines started to achieve an important fame, thank to the seafarers who go across the Ocean. It gives rise to an important demand out of our island borders. In this way, a thriving market is born, making of the Wine growing and the wine exports the main source of richness of the island. It is significant to emphasize that in most of the American countries, vine shoots were taken from the islands which brought the vine there, and as result, the wine production.

At present times, in Gran Canaria island, the area of production is extended by all the island. The elaboration of its wines is made with grapes of the following varieties: black (listán, negramoll, tintilla, moscatel and vijariego) and white (gual, breval, marmajuelo, malvasía and muscatel).
